Program Manager - Victim Support Unit, QLD

 

This position is responsible for program leadership and accountability for the Victim Support Unit, a Court Network team which develops personalised court support plans for adult victims of crime in Brisbane, Ipswich, Sunshine Coast and Gympie. The services are delivered by a team of professional volunteers.  An Operations Manager, which reports to this position, coordinates day-to-day client services and volunteer activities.

 

You will lead a high quality service delivery program; provide leadership to paid staff and volunteers and develop and manage stakeholder relationships and partnerships.  You will work closely with the State Manager in Court Network service development and operations.  

 

Relevant degree qualifications e.g. social work, management, criminology and high level program management in the community sector are essential.    You will have specialist knowledge relevant to victim support and a strong commitment to social justice and human rights.  You have experience in case management and can supervise case management practice.  You have people management experience, and an understanding of volunteer leadership and management is very desirable. 

 

This is a 3 days a week position, located in Brisbane CBD.  Remuneration is paid through the SCHADS award.

Program Manager - Brisbane Courts

 

Are you an experienced community services professional with an interest in assisting vulnerable court users to access justice?

 

Do you enjoy leading and managing a skilled team of volunteers?

The Program Manager - Brisbane Courts takes primary responsibility for court support programs in the Brisbane Magistrates Court and Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT).  Areas of focus include the Domestic Violence court, guardianship tribunal, tenancy hearings and mental health hearings.  The frontline services are delivered by a team of 40-50 volunteers. You will develop and manage these services; lead, develop and support the volunteer team; and liaise with key stakeholders to ensure our services are well coordinated and relevant.

 

Relevant degree qualifications e.g. social work, psychology and experience are essential. You will thrive on teamwork and a busy work environment.  You will have a strong commitment to social justice and human rights.  Your understanding about the particular needs of vulnerable people who use the courts  e.g. family violence, mental health, disability, homelessness will be particularly valuable.  Your  will be able to capably lead and develop a team of committed, professional volunteers. 

 

This is 4 days a week position, located in Brisbane CBD. Remuneration is in accordance with the SCHADS Award (Level 7).

Current Volunteer Opportunities 

 

In Victoria, Court Network holds two training intakes per year: one for metropolitan Melbourne and the other for regional Victoria. Queensland holds one intake per year per region, depending on court vacancies.

 

Court Network assesses applicants’ suitability for this role and all trainee volunteers need to successfully complete all training requirements, a police check and a Working with Children Check. Applicants need to be in a position to commit to at least one day a week for a period of 12 months or more. On completion of training volunteers are required to attend ongoing training and team meetings.

 

Each Court Networker must be a member of the Association. The joining fee is a once-off payment of $15 (GST inclusive). Only financial members are able to vote at Annual General Meetings, receive Board correspondence and memorandums and annual Financial Reports.
