Court Network 2009 Board of Directors 

           

Barbara Rozenes, President
Appointed AGM, 2000

Barbara is a member of the Sentencing Advisory Council and has been with them since its inception. Barbara has been a Company Director with philanthropic and charitable organisations including the Neuroscience Foundation at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Jewish Crisis Centre. Barbara aided in setting up the Patrons for Epilepsy Australia and is herself a Patron.  Barbara is a former member of the Victorian Association of Restorative Justice Committee and of Fair Share. She is also an Ambassador of Windana.

A Court Network volunteer since 1991, Barbara has been a Board Member since 2001. Barbara undertook a course in Mediation in 2006 and is a qualified Mediator with AIAMA.  She is also a member of the Court Network Public Speaking group.


Brian Barrow, Vice President
Appointed Special General Meeting, April 2004

Brian recently retired from the position of Deputy Chief Magistrate. He was a Registrar of the Magistrates’ Court for 25 years before his appointment as a Magistrate in 1985. Brian is now an Acting Magistrate and continues to pursue his interest in law reform.

 

Rosemary Syme, B.Comm Dip.ED, Secretary
Appointed AGM 2008

Rosemary worked in Human Resources and, for the last 10 years of her career as a teacher of Economics to VCE students. She was on the Board of the National Heart Foundation for 4 years and is an Honorary Life Member of the Voluntary Guides National Gallery of Victoria where she was President in 1990/1991. She is currently Secretary of the Board for another not for profit organisation.  
Rosemary has been a Court Network volunteer since 2000, first at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court and for the past five years at County Court.


           
 

 

 

 

 

 

           
 

David Spiegel, CPA,Treasurer
Appointed Special General Meeting, 2009

David, A Principal at WHK Howarth, has worked extensively with small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) for over 25 years. In that time he has built a breadth of knowledge and experience in the areas of taxation and management accounting particular to the needs of SMEs. His interests in domestic and international tax as well as company law gives David major strength in assisting clients with financial modelling and structuring and has a very loyal client base as a result. He sits on boards of advice and has been instrumental in optimising the financial and taxation positions of many clients over the years.

Patricia Lo Cascio, MA, MAPS
Appointed AGM, 2003
Patricia is a forensic psychologist with significant experience in the legal and counseling field and in criminology. Patricia works with victims of crime and offenders within the court and penal system. She is bi-lingual and has a particular interest in working with non-Australian born people.

Denise O’Shannassy LLB. Dip Fam Law

Appointed AGM, 2005
Denise completed Court Network Training in 2000 and since then has worked as a Networker in the Melbourne Family Court. She graduated in Law at Melbourne in 1962 and completed a Diploma of Family Law at Monash University in 1982.

Denise practiced as a solicitor until August 1999. She had a wide range of clients including many from multicultural backgrounds and became experienced working with interpreters. Her main experience is in litigation and family law.

           

Anthony Symons, LLB, B.Com
Appointed AGM 2007

Tony is a director of Clarendon Lawyers.  He graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1996 with a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws.  Since then, Tony has worked in top tier law firms in Australia and Hong Kong and has extensive experience in corporate and commercial matters.  He currently specialises in mergers and acquisitions.

 

Vi Branagh,TPTC, TSpTC
Appointed AGM, 2008

Vi Branagh has worked as a Networker since 2002 and is currently networking at the Geelong Law Courts.  Her career of over 40 years has been in the field of education as a teacher, teacher trainer and Human Resource Manager.  Vi has been involved in the selection and training of new Networkers across the state.


 

Evi Kadar, Acting CEO, County Court Victoria
Appointed Special General Meeting, 2009

Evi has 25 years experience working with both offenders and victims of crime.  This includes roles as Manager of the Dame Phillis Frost Women’s Prison, CEO of the Melbourne Juvenile Justice Centre and the Statewide Forensic Service.  Evi has also been a manager of Victims Services at VSA.  As a student she was a Court Network Volunteer.  Evi is currently the CEO at County Court.
